Ottawa – Aug 27, 2015 – Ontario-based Farm Boy 2012 Inc. (Farm Boy) celebrates the official grand opening of its first fresh market location in the Greater Toronto Area.
Located at 360 Taunton Road East (Taunton Gardens) the new 28,000 square foot Farm Boy™ Whitby store brings more than 150 full and part time jobs to the Whitby community and, true to the Farm Boy roots, the new store promises to deliver the very best, “fresh-and-friendly”, convenient, fresh market shopping experience.
Opening ceremonies began early in the morning with welcome speeches from Jeff York, Farm Boy President, & CEO, Tracy Hanson, CEO of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, Roger Anderson, Regional Chair & CEO, Durham Region and Whitby Mayor Don Mitchell.
Just prior to the ribbon cutting and the official opening of the new store, Farm Boy presented Kevin Empey, President, & CEO, Lakeridge Hospital with a $5,000 donation in support of their nutritional and health education programs.
Customers are invited to the store’s Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, August 29th from 10 am to 2 pm where they can sample tasty treats from theFarm Boy Kitchen and several Ontario suppliers including, Mountainoak Cheese, Finest Sausage & Meat Ltd and Schinkel’s Legacy. Along with the charity BBQ in support of the Lakeridge Hospital, children will have the opportunity to meet the Farm Boy mascot, Lulu the Cow, get their picture taken in the photo boardFarm Boy truck and take part in face painting.
The new store marks the 18th Farm Boy location in Ontario and the third of four stores planned to open in 2015 – with the Kitchener store scheduled to open later this year.
