Farm Boy Accessible Customer Service Plan
Providing Goods and Services to People with Disabilities
Farm Boy is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities.
We are familiarizing our staff with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services.
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.
We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public.
We welcome support persons who accompany people with disabilities.
Notice of temporary disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services we will notify customers promptly. This clearly posted notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated length of time, and a description of alternative services, if available.
The notice will be placed on the front door of our store. Depending on the degree or duration of disruption, we may also notify customers on our website or through our ebulletin or flyer.
Training for staff
Farm Boy is providing training to all retail employees who deal with the public. Third party suppliers will be responsible for training their employees who may interact with the public in our stores. Individuals in the following positions are being trained: Managers, Assistants, Supervisors and Customer Service Representatives. This training will be provided to staff within 2 weeks of hiring.
- An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the requirements of the customer service standard.
- Farm Boy's accessible customer service plan.
- How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities.
- How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person.
- What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing Farm Boy's goods and services.
Staff will also be trained when changes are made to our accessible customer service plan.
Completion of training is being documented by each store HR Assistant.
Customers who wish to provide feedback on the way Farm Boy provides goods and services to people with disabilities are encouraged to speak with the store manager; fill out a customer comment card at the store; email us at email@example.com; or call our Home Office at 613-247-1007.
